ITTF Pro Tour- London

On the morning of the 23rd November at ExCeL London, the media were invited to interview players and officials as the preparations for the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals were in full swing.
The event that takes place from 24-27 November sees Olympic Gold medalists and World Champions battle it out for the $365,000 prize money.

London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) is testing key operations at the event including field of play, sports equipment, technology and workforce.

Debbie Jevans, Director of Sport at LOCOG said of the event: “It is great to be working with both the ITTF and the English Table Tennis Federation (ETTA) on the organisation of this high profile event which will be vital in testing our operations prior to the Games. The testing we will do at the Pro Tour Grand Finals will ensure our Table Tennis field of play and technology has a ‘dress rehearsal’ at ExCeL, which is the sport’s Games time venue.”

The ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals will also double up as a test event for London 2012.

Top players at the event include Zhang Jike and Ding Ning, winners of both singles events at the World Championships and the World Cup, who on recent form will see them going into the event as favourites.
